Cut, Score, & Engrave Starting settings

These are starting points for cutting.  Although the machines should be the same, different settings work differently for different machines.

***Please note that as Glowforge has made updates, they in some cases affect cut settings.


1/8” MDF/ White MDF Settings​​

  • Select Proofgrade Medium Draftboard Material

  • Select Proofgrade cut setting

  • Manually “set focus” in middle of material (click 3 dots on the menu in the middle of display)

  • Select print and cut the material


1/4” MDF Settings

  • Select Proofgrade Thick Draftboard Material

  • Select Proofgrade cut setting

  • Manually set focus

  • Select print and cut the material


1/8” Baltic Birch Settings

  • Select Uncertified Material

  • Using calipers, measure and enter the thickness of the material

  • Speed: 155

  • Power: FULL

  • Manually “Set focus”

  • Select print and cut the material


1/4” Baltic Birch

  • Select “Uncertified Material”

  • Measure the thickness of you material using calipers(this can normally be done once for each batch)

  • Set up a profile using:

    • Speed: 110-125 (test out)

    • Power: FULL

  • Manually “Set focus”

  • Select print and cut the material


1/4”  MDF core materials: Maple, Birch, Hickory, Cherry, Red Oak, Walnut, Pre-Finished Maple

  • Select Proofgrade Thick Draftboard Material
  • Select Proofgrade cut setting

  • Manually set focus

  • Select print and cut the material

Other Tips

  • We always manually "SET FOCUS" before selecting "CUT."

  • Use Hold Down pins even when you don't think it needs it.

  • Be sure that you are incorporating material cost into your Pricing.

    • $45/20 sheets =$2.25 per sheet​

    • $2.25 x 3 = $6.75 per sheet customer cost
